This fall, our students participated in a variety of community service activities, demonstrating their commitment to giving back.
“I want to thank all of you for a wonderful fall of community service,” said Mathematics Teacher and Community Service Coordinator Jennifer Duncan. “I had such positive feedback from everyone we interacted with in our community.”
Among this fall’s activities, students spruced up the Goshen Community Garden and prepared it for the winter months, sorted clothes at the Clothes Tree Thrift Shop, whose proceeds support local nonprofits, and made cards and baked goods to show appreciation for our Dining Hall, Housekeeping, and Maintenance & Grounds teams. They also helped clean at the School on the Green preschool, participated in a local Halloween haunted hayride, and volunteered at the YMCA Wild Turkey 5k.
Additionally, students painted pumpkins and baked desserts for the Charlotte Hungerford Hospital Pink Rose Fund breast cancer fundraiser. They also helped serve guests at the event, and the Lion’s Den Bistro participated in the chili contest, earning second place out of six local entries!
Every student must complete at least 15 community service hours per academic year. Through their service, students learn the value and importance of making a difference in the local community.
