Growth, Opportunities, and Essential Skill Development: Forman's Postgraduate Program

Forman provides the support needed.

Students choose Forman School for a postgraduate (PG) year because of the growth, opportunities, and essential skill development it offers before transitioning to college. For students who learn differently, a PG year here is more than just an extension of high school. Whether you're looking to strengthen your executive function (EF) skills, gain confidence in managing personal responsibilities, prepare for the academic and social challenges of college, or earn college credits, Forman provides the support needed to achieve those goals and more. With tailored academic resources and an environment that encourages college-style independence and self-discipline, we equip you for a seamless transition to the next step of your life.

Executive Function and the College Experience

As part of the PG academic experience at Forman School, students work with an EF coach throughout the year to develop and strengthen their skills in time management, task initiation and completion, routine structures, work management, and other related areas.

Academic and Student Support

All PG students have a program advisor who is deeply affiliated with Forman’s PG program. This advisor acts as a guide and reference for their experiences both in the classroom and beyond. The advisor meets with the students during the advisory period to discuss PG topics, engage the group in team-building activities, and check in on their progress and success in the program.

How involved are PG students in campus life at Forman School?

PG students at Forman are fully integrated into campus life and have a tailored academic experience. While they take different classes suited to their post-high school goals, they remain active members of the school community. Over the course of the year, PG students have the opportunity to be part of more than 30 competitive athletic teams, as well as unexpected recreational activities. Students participate in a wide range of weekend activities and thrive in a traditional prep school environment. They also have an advisor specifically focused on PG programming, ensuring they receive the guidance and support needed for their next steps.

Where do PG students live on campus?

At Forman School, we strive to create a supportive and structured residential experience for all students, including our PG students. PG students live in a cohort setting, fostering a sense of community and shared experience among their peers. This arrangement allows for additional peer support, collaboration, and a smooth transition into their next steps after Forman.

Housing placements are dependent on our PG enrollment. While we aim for PG students to be housed together, adjustments may be made based on the needs of the student body and available space. Our goal is always to provide the best possible living environment for all students while maintaining a balanced and enriching dorm experience.
