Forman to host professional development workshop for educators

The Forman School, in association with the All Kinds of Minds Institute, is offering a summer workshop for subject specialists. The course focuses on early to late adolescent learning and development challenges using case studies and teacher experiences. The course will examine ways to assess the neurodevelopment demands of curriculum and instruction along with their impact on leaning. Additionally, the course will explore the student, teacher, and parent learning partnership and how to build self-advocacy skills to prepare the student for success.

Who should attend?  Middle and high school classroom teachers who want to better reach students with learning differences. Others who would benefit from the program include special education teachers, department chairs, guidance counselors, and middle or high school administrators.

When is it? August 18 to August 22, 2008

Where is it? The Chace Meeting Room on The Forman School Campus, Litchfield, CT

What does it cost? $1,500.  This includes Schools Attuned pre-course material and reading, course and practicum syllabus, management strategies, and access to online learning resources.  The program also includes ten hours of structured follow-up work either on-site or online. Lunch will be provided.
