Professional Development At Forman we are committed to remaining current and proficient with what is best in the field of learning and learning differences. We believe that there is deep value in creating a common understanding of learning differences for all those who work at the school. Our work with the All Kinds of Minds Schools Attuned Program in the early 1990’s has been the foundation for building this understanding. Our teachers know the importance of providing a learning environment that speaks to students who learn differently.
This focus is supported with continual teacher education and professional development. We work with experts from the All Kinds of Minds Institute at the University of North Carolina in Durham, the Center on Research on Learning at the University of Kansas and from consultants whose focus is on the unique needs of our students as learners. We bring leaders in field to our campus for presentations and workshops. We employ state-of- the assistive technology and adopt only field tested and validated learning strategies. We are members or affiliated with a wide array of organizations that deal with students with learning differences. Every teacher at Forman understands the issues faced by students who learn differently and has been trained to provide a learning environment responds their needs.
